9-year-old Tyshawn Lee

By: Corshae B

On November 2, 2015 about at 8:30 pm 9 year old Tyshawn Lee  was walking to his grandmother’s house near 80th and Damen where he was lured into an alley and shot to death.

According  to Tyshawn Lee’s father, the shooting of his son was on purpose. I don’t know if anyone feels this way, but how can you be so calm when your 9-year-old child was shot 7 times and once in the head? How can you not open your mouth and say something if you know why he was killed ? I believe that if the parents of Tyshawn speak up and say what they know, justice could be so easy to get. This is no one’s child but Karla Lee and Pierre Stokes. People are trying their best to help find the killer of Tyshawn, but the parents are not helping. Fighting each other or arguing is not going to get your son justice. While Stokes is telling the public that the mother is buying cars and purses, that’s not making him look like the good person. He is  worrying about the wrong stuff. He should be worried about if someone is out to get him or what people think of him might be the truth. How could you be on the radio doing a interview about your son’s death, and  you’re not grieving or anything? I’m not saying it’s the parents fault, but someone has to step up and say something or give some information about what they know.

At first, I felt like the parents of Tyshawn Lee were traumatized, but to me it looks like both of the parents are okay with their 9-year-old child being executed.  If you are okay with someone killing your child and you are letting them get away with it, then you are as pathetic as the person that commited this crime. Last summer, there was  a story similar to this. 7- year-old Amari Brown being killed by gun violence .   The father of Amari Brown told the news reporters, “We’re going to seek justice. We’re going to find out who did it. We are going to find out the right way instead of pointing the finger ”. He is not worrying about unnecessary stuff; he is worrying about who killed his son. He doesn’t think it’s ok for someone to kill his son and get away with it; he wants justice. He didn’t have time to talk on tv and answer all these questions like the father of Tyshawn Lee was doing. Antonio Brown told the news reporters how he felt about them blaming him for the murder of his son; he asked them to   “let me grieve” .I agree with him  because no one knows  what he got going on. But I mean, no one wants to bury their child at all; no one should like to see someone else hurt about their child being killed by gun violence.

But to the parents of Tyshawn Lee, if you know something open your mouth. Have you ever heard the saying A closed mouth dont get fed”? So the longer that no one says anything, there will be no justices, and no one will be arrested for the murder of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee. As a unit of black people, we should be able to work together and not be scared. We will never overcome our fears if we don’t try communicating with people. That’s where everything goes wrong when  we don’t communicate the right way; we would  rather fight or kill one another. That’s not how life is suppose to go, we are supposed to work together. So speak up and let’s get justice for 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee.
